Lock Raider, the new face of Tradelocks

* Lock-Raider.jpgA childhood fascination with locks has turned into a dream career for Stephanie Atkinson - the latest member of the Tradelocks sales team and the new face of Tradelocks.

"I had always been interested with locks as a child. Growing up I was the sort of youngster who loved taking things apart to learn about how they worked," recalls Steph, who is well known in the locksmith industry and will be based in the South of England as Technical Sales Executive.* Lock-Raider2.jpg

But it was being conned by a cowboy locksmith which proved to be the real turning point in Steph's life.

"When I started work I was painting and decorating and many of my clients were elderly ladies who lived on their own. Working with them started me thinking about taking up locksmithing as many of them were really vulnerable.

"But the final push I needed came when I was ripped off by a couple of rogue lockies."

It was the catalyst to a life changing decision for Steph.

She says: "I trained in early 2007 and realised after my five-day course that I was still woefully ignorant of nearly everything in the trade. I knew I needed to learn more and gain experience. That's when I contacted Steve Coombes who told me about the ICL. Both of whom I have a lot to thank for.

"Towards the end of 2007 I was working for AFS in London, who owned AJ Security in Dover. It was a wonderful learning experience and I picked up a wealth of knowledge.

"Then this year the opportunity to join the Tradelocks team came along and I jumped at the opportunity. It's a new challenge but one I am really looking forward to. It's a whole different side to the industry and I am keen to see how it works - I guess I never change!"
