Latin leap for security firm G4S

Security services company G4S said high demand for security guards in Latin America was driving growth as it reported a 9% jump in profit.

The firm said it was looking to spend £200m on further acquisitions in developing nations such as Brazil as it seeks to offset government spending cuts at home.

Chief executive Nick Buckles said: 'There is demand for our guards in emerging markets as they are a stronger force in terms of pay and training than the local police in many areas.'
