Mul-T-Lock drives up security at BMW Wollaston

* BMW-Smartair2.jpgMul-T-Lock's innovative Smartair standalone system has been supplied to the BMW showroom in Wollaston, by access control specialists Lock-tec, as part of an overall refurbishment programme.

Smartair provides a secure all-in-one access control solution that reduces the cost and inconvenience associated with wiring a traditional access control system.

The BMW dealership has recently undertaken a complete refurbishment programme and needed a wire-free access control system that could withstand high volume of traffic through the parts department and main showroom.

Lock-tec, an approved Smartair Centre in Northwich, recommended the system as an easy to install access control unit that could work from existing programming and be quickly fitted to ensure the security of the new-look showroom.

Says Rob Riley of BMW Wollaston: "We wanted to upgrade our security to access control, but needed a wire-free solution that could work from existing programming and user cards and yet didn't compromise on the aesthetics.

"Lock-tec recommended Mul-T-Lock's Smartair Standalone and we were instantly impressed with how easy it was to install and code, and overall how robust the system is, standing up to the pressure of high traffic on a daily basis."

Smartair removes the need for complicated programming as user cards and fobs can be easily added or removed, using a unique management card. Now, with the addition of a shadow card, individual 'lost' users can also be managed more effectively.

Mike Jackson, Access Control Manager at Lock-tec added: "Smartair Standalone's intelligent door management system offers many of the benefits associated with high-end access control products.

"For Wollaston BMW's showroom, the advantages were clear; the attractive, slim line escutcheon is battery operated, and installation does not require any hard wiring to doors, keeping disruption and cost to a minimum. And so impressed, a project that started with a single door has been extended to incorporate existing programming and user cards."

Smartair also overcomes many of the obstacles traditionally associated with upgrading to access control systems. Mul-T-Lock believes Smartair provides a genuine bridge between mechanical security and electronic access control.

Matt Rice, Marketing Manager at Mul-T-Lock concludes: "Smartair is one of the most convenient access control solutions on the market, simply offering secure keyless access when and where requested. The latest addition of the shadow card option, also shows how the system is constantly being developed to be even more user friendly."

Smartair is a 'bolt on' solution for use on internal and external doors, and in many circumstances, can be retro-fitted to existing door locks with the option of retaining existing key systems.

Smartair is now available from stock with a round bar return to door handle to meet the requirements of Document M and BS8300 in a stainless steel finish with a range of other finishes available to order.
