Kaba Access and Data Systems Americas' product trainer attains certified Forensic Locksmith status

Kaba Access and Data Systems Americas (ADS) is pleased to announce that Rick Shuford, product trainer, has been awarded the title Certified Forensic Locksmith (CFL). To achieve this designation from the International Association of Investigative Locksmiths (IAIL), Shuford completed rigorous training and intensive local, state, national, and FBI background checks.

As one of only 39 Certified Forensic Locksmiths in the United States, Shuford can provide expert testimony in legal proceedings on locks and keys-more specifically to determine how an act occurred or suggest what device was used to gain access into a lock. Since his certification, Shuford has conducted four forensic investigations and provided evidence based strictly on facts, data, and methodologies.

"With Rick's recent certification, he has clearly demonstrated his competency and passion for locksmithing and helped to increase the knowledge base of our product training group," says Tasha Birdwell, marketing manager Kaba Access and Data Systems Americas. "We always encourage our employees to develop their competencies; it not only helps them grow professionally, but in turn, we can provide our customers with top-notch service and expertise. And, anyone who has ever attended one of Rick's training seminars can attest that it is loaded with valuable and reliable content."

Over the past five years, Shuford has taught over 300 classes and instructed more than 3,500 students from 48 states and 16 countries about the ins and outs of electronic and mechanical locks as well as key control systems. As Kaba develops new products, Shuford will also be responsible for testing, improving and, in some cases, the simple interrogation of the Kaba product lines. In addition to being a Certified Forensic Locksmith, Shuford also has more than a dozen certifications in all areas of locksmithing, including Certified Registered Locksmith (CRL) and Certified ACE Instructor (CAI). He has published numerous articles for trade publications and belongs to many industry associations throughout North America.

For more information regarding Kaba training and seminars or to register for training classes, contact Rick Shuford at Kaba Access and Data Systems in Winston-Salem, North Carolina or email Rick directly at [email protected]
