Security Training Malpractice

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has issued a Press Statement (NR2712) announcing the withdrawal of 1001 training certificates following their investigation into allegations of training malpractice, in partnership with Awarding Organisation HABC.

Of these qualifications, 654 have been used to obtain an SIA licence, which will be revoked unless the licence holders gain a valid qualification within 28 days.

Mike Britnell, Interim Chief Executive at Skills for Security said:

"Skills for Security remains concerned that a very small number of training providers still believe they can get away with this sort of malpractice. We will work tirelessly with industry employers, Awarding Organisations and the SIA to eliminate bad practice whenever we can, to ensure that only properly trained and qualified security personnel are employed in our industry."
