Control room furniture specialist Winsted wins prestigious Queen’s Award

* Winsted.jpgLeading control room furniture manufacturer Winsted is celebrating winning a coveted Queens Award for Enterprise. Winsted’s success follows its exceptional achievement in the International Trade category, with an overall increase in overseas sales of 82% over the past three years.

The highly prestigious Queen’s Awards are bestowed annually by HM the Queen to honour outstanding companies and encourage the development of British business, and are conferred for the highest levels of excellence demonstrated in each category. Eligibility is also based on strict performance criteria.

“Despite the tough current economic times, we are extremely proud to have successfully entered and grown new markets,” comments Terry Shough, Winsted’s General Manager. “We are also delighted to be accepting our Queen’s Award during this very special Diamond Jubilee year. Our achievement reflects the hard work put in by the whole Winsted team over a long period, as well as our range of innovative, high quality products.”

The news follows hard on the heels of Winsted’s certification to the ISO14001 environmental management standard, demonstrating the company’s ‘green’ credentials through its commitment to eco-friendly operations. It also builds on the company’s existing ISO9001 quality management system certification.

Winsted’s investment-based strategy is ongoing, focusing on improvements that deliver tangible contributions towards customer service benefits. “Through our ongoing commitment to product innovation and providing excellent customer service, we’re optimistic of building the Winsted brand even further,” Mr Shough adds.

Winsted designs, manufactures, assembles and installs specialist control room furniture – such as consoles, monitor walls and digital desks – for a range of business sector customers in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. These include the security, broadcast, air traffic, oil and gas, rail transport and power generation industries, as well as organisations in the utilities, emergency services/civil contingency and prisons sectors.

Since its inception in 1963, Winsted has consistently pioneered console design and development. The company’s product concept and design is driven by industry needs and demands, with many equipped ideas suggested by customers and developed with their input.

A dominant force in the North American markets for nearly 50 years, Winsted expanded into overseas markets in 1975, primarily in the UK, and in 1976 began concentrated efforts to establish distribution in the Middle East.

Winsted’s international distribution was firmly established in 1984 with the formation of Winsted Ltd in the UK.  Since then Winsted EMEA has become a design and manufacturing facility serving the European, Middle East and African markets. With an ever expanding global network of distributors, Winsted is in an excellent position to satisfy and support its rapidly growing international client base.
