GAI appoints Codelocks expert as Vice Chair of its North Central Community Hub

For over 30 years, Codelocks has been at the forefront of access control solutions, with a broad portfolio of products for doors and cabinets. One of the main reasons for the company’s success has been its focus on investing in its people, who in turn share their knowledge and expertise with their peers in the industry. 

The appointment of Michelle Watkins, Codelocks Sales Manager as the new Vice Chair of the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) North Central Community Hub demonstrates Codelocks’ dedication to the sector and commitment to putting customers first.

Amanda Haley, current Chair of the North Central GAI Community Hub said “It’s a pleasure to announce Michelle as the new Vice Chair. GAI Community Hubs provide a focus for people working in the industry to take an active role in the sector and develop their careers, deepen their knowledge and widen their networks. Covering the M62 corridor, the North Central Hub is one of several throughout the UK, Ireland and overseas, holding regular meetings to provide support and CPD educational opportunities for current RegAI holders, those seeking RegAI status, as well as DipGAI holders and students alike. As North Central Community Hub Vice Chair, Michelle will join our committee bringing knowledge and experience to support and develop the architectural ironmongery profession in our region.”  

Codelocks Sales Director, Joanne Milne-Rowe said, “As a longstanding member of the Codelocks team, Michelle has been a driving force in taking our acclaimed training courses on the road and bringing them to a wider audience. I know she will take the same focus forward into the North Central GAI Community Hub.” 

Awarded a silver medal for the GAI Diploma in Scheduling, Michelle maintains her awareness of the latest industry standards, regulations, and best practice through the benchmark Continuing Professional Development (CPD) qualifications with the GAI.  

Michelle said, “As well as gaining the expected academic and commercial benefits, training is a fantastic way to build relationships and confidence. Even if you have been a part of our great industry for many years, I find there’s always something new to learn. 

“Learning and development is my passion and I’m very keen to help people involved in the industry across the region share and develop ideas, discuss challenges and get solutions. I can’t wait to get started.” 

A firm believer in sharing knowledge and encouraging others to maximise their potential in the architectural ironmongery industry, Michelle has been actively involved in developing and delivering “On the Road with Codelocks”. This initiative makes Codelocks’ classic Mechanical or Electronic Lock 101 training and troubleshooting courses accessible to a wider audience by delivering it on customers’ sites.
