New museum traces the evolution of locks

* AM-Fish-Lock-Museum.jpgIt sits inside a sprawling, aged industrial building under the Van Horne-Rosemont overpass in Montreal, and is probably the last place you would expect to find one of the most unusual museums in the city. The Aaron M. Fish Lock Museum and Educational Centre wouldn't be out of place in some chichi downtown location, but its builder and curator, Aaron M. Fish, sought a location close to where he grew up and has spent much of his working life.

The museum essentially occupies one large room in the building, but it is a veritable treasure trove. Fish has a collection of some 2,000 locks dating back to ancient times and moving into the present.
