Paris to auction off 'love locks' and give proceeds to migrant charities

Paris aficionados will get the chance to buy into the world's most romantic city when the French capital sells off the "love locks" that have adorned its bridges before officials clamped down on the amorous practice.

All the proceeds will go to charity to help deal with the influx of migrants into the French capital. Padlocks of all shapes, colours and sizes with tourists' initials inscribed on them and hooked to the Pont des Arts near the Louvre, among other bridges, had become a familiar sight in recent years. Couples threw the keys into the Seine to express seen their undying love.
