Afraid of where the technology is going?

Modular locks enable easy technology swaps

When representatives from Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies went out to talk to customers about the company’s technology they were taken aback at what they heard, says Steve Down, General Manager at Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies.

“We thought we knew what the customer wanted but when we started talking to them and found out where the pain points were, we were surprised,” he said. “It was around nervousness of where the technology is going.”

The company then decided to roll out modular locks that enable the end user to swap out from keypad, to mag stripe reader, smart card reader and even potentially a biometric reader sometime in the future, Down said. “It’s something that’s not bleeding edge but it makes customers happy.”
