Vanderbilt showcases new ACT Enterprise at Security Essen

Vanderbilt, a global leader providing state-of-the-art security systems, announced today that it would showcase the latest version of ACT Enterprise at Security Essen 2018.

Along with demonstrations of the access control software solution, visitors to Security Essen can explore the full range of products that Vanderbilt has to offer at Stand 6D90, with a significant focus on increased integration within the company's products and with third-party systems.

The latest ACT Enterprise features, which include integration with Vanderbilt's award-winning SPC intrusion system, a rules mapping engine, and a smartphone app, were previewed at the IFSEC tradeshow in London in June and received a wave of positive feedback from visitors to the show.

ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global door opening solutions' provider, is launching the new CLIQ Go system for locksmiths looking to future-proof their security expertise.

Remote access management
To keep operations simple, CLIQ Go allows customers to remotely manage security from a smartphone App. This enables clients to easily manage and change access rights on demand, and instantly revoke authorisation if needed.

Rosslare launches new Rosslare BLE-ID App

Rosslare Enterprises Ltd., a leading worldwide provider of professional security solutions including Access Control, Detectors, and Guard Patrol, has launched the Rosslare BLE-ID apps. By installing the apps onto their smartphones, users can use the smartphone as a credential for access control and automation applications.

The ID code generated by the app is unique to the device, and may be transferred easily by email to the system administrator. Rosslare's new CSN SMART readers will appear in the app, and the user just needs to tap on the reader name to submit the credential to that particular reader.

Experience was key to unlocking safe

* Chinese-safecracker.jpgWith 39 years of experience, a 68-year-old locksmith, Wu Kun-hao, opened a century-old safe in 50 minutes after several failed attempts over 3 days by a Japanese safecracker, according to the Taipei Times.

The safe dates to Japan's Taisho Period (1912-1926) and the katakana script on the dial is no longer legible.

Allegion Integrates Keri Systems' Software With Schlage Locks

Allegion says that its latest version of the Keri Systems' software now supports Schlage locks in no-tour mode. No-tour mode allows for the altering of access to a lock without having to visit it.

The supported locks, which include Schlage Control, NDE and LE, are said to be well-suited for multifamily property managers looking to retrofit their existing properties with electronic access control on individual apartment spaces.

Allegion says this provides more security, eliminates unnecessary expenses around managing traditional keys and offers an enhanced tenant experience with ID card or phone access. It also makes it an option to consider for common areas within the building such as meeting rooms, recreational areas and laundry rooms.

Huawei faces security backlash over its use of old US software for UK telecom networks

Security officials in the UK are concerned that the nation's communications backbone could be at risk thanks to a piece of US-made software that is about to go out-of-date. The software is currently being used by Chinese telecoms giant Huawei, the company responsible for supplying networking equipment for BT, Vodafone and their subsidiaries.

The problem surrounds Huawei's use of Wind River Systems' VxWorks operating system. The software will stop receiving security patches and updates in 2020, possibly leaving theWind River Systems' VxWorks operating system open to attack.

Alpro at Fred Perry headquarters

IDF Aluminium has installed doors and internal screenwork at the new headquarters of iconic sportswear brand Fred Perry in Clerkenwell, London.

The work includes use of transom door closers, pole handles and door handles from Alpro as part of the renovation of nineteenth-century warehouse buildings into a complex of offices, showrooms, exhibition space and a rooftop deck over 24,000 square feet.
