Once the preserve of commercial offices or high-end buildings, affordable electronic door locks are becoming more popular as a smart security solution for both homes and businesses.
Featuring a pioneering chip and 128-bit AES encryption, the new eCLIQ system has been developed to offer high security and resistance to electronic attack.
The new range is designed and tested to be compatible with ASSA's Modular and Connect lockcases, delivering a high strength, high performance combination for doors that undergo extreme usage, or are situated in high security areas.
Farpointe Data, the access control industry's OEM for RFID credentials and readers, has announced that access control system manufacturers, integrators and dealers will be able to provide their customers with a mobile, smart phone application and hardware that provides free download, user's choice of smart phone or smart card, and distribution via existing or independent access control software.
Multiple Conekt credentials can fit into a single smart phone wallet app. Installer adjustable read ranges can be more than 15 feet (4.5 m). The new Farpointe Conekt Series provides extremely generous gross margins.
2018 is set to be a very exciting year for cloud computing. In the fourth financial quarter of 2017, Amazon, SAP, Microsoft, IBM, Salesforce, Oracle, and Google combined had over $22 billion in their revenue from cloud services. Cloud services will only get bigger in 2018. It's easy to understand why businesses love the cloud. It's easier and more affordable to use third-party cloud services than for every enterprise to have to maintain their own datacenters on their own premises.
It's certainly possible to keep your company's data on cloud servers secure. But cyber threats are evolving, and cloud servers are a major target. Keep 2018's top cloud security threats in mind, and you'll have the right mindset for properly securing your business' valuable data.Full Story

Many businesses use CCTV systems for their security benefits, however the images of people captured is classified as personal data. Due to this, businesses must comply with the Data Protection Act, or from May 2018, the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
The GDPR will require controllers to undertake a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) when their processing is likely to result in a high risk to individuals.
Our draft guidance (expected later this month) will give further detail on how to assess risk, and will also propose a list of processing operations where DPIAs will be mandatory. The guidance will also discuss in what circumstances controllers will have to consult the ICO prior to processing. We will be seeking comments before 13 April, please check our Guide to the GDPR for further details.
