News in Brief

A jury has found a 25-year-old man guilty of murder and especially aggravated robbery in the

shooting death of a locksmith

shot in the face while he was working on a car. The jury took less than 30 minutes to convict Ameale Hudson in the death of Marine veteran Troy Mitchell. A 16-year-old who authorities say shot Mitchell under the direction of Hudson faces the same charges and is scheduled to go to trial in February.

The Commonwealth Games Village

has been transformed into a near fortress with over 1000 security personnel guarding the premises on a 24 hour a day basis.

Quick Reaction Team (QRT) vehicles are much in evidence with armed security guards and police keeping a close eye on the movement of all traffic.

Numerous watch towers have been erected with an armed guard placed in each.
