The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) shortlists SmartAlarm Gold system from VPS in the BIFM Awards 2013
VPS are the largest vacant property specialists in Europe, securing more than 90,000 properties and employing over 2000 staff in 100 locations across the UK, the US, and mainland Europe. They specialise in securing, maintaining and managing vacant property across a wide range of customer and industry sectors, working with facility managers, local authorities and the UK's leading construction companies, property developers, estate managers and insolvency practitioners.
The BIFM awards are the biggest and most prestigious within the UK's FM industry, and give national recognition to the leaders in, and supporters of, facilities management. The awards are designed to highlight the key role FM plays in the success of public and private sector organisations.
The SmartAlarm Gold system is VPS' entry into the BIFM Excellence in Product Development category, and it has successfully been shortlisted to the next stage of assessment, comprising of interviews and an on-site visit from the judges. If it reaches the final stage, the Awards ceremony in October at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, will be when the winner will be announced.
"Protecting and preparing premises appropriately can make the vital difference for the owners between re-letting or selling vacant properties, or seeing them remaining empty and falling into disrepair." Simon Alderson, Commercial Director for VPS, explains. "Since its launch last year, we have seen a significant uptake on our SmartAlarm Gold, one of our technology solutions that helps to improve security but also in most cases reduce costs for our customers."
The SmartAlarm Gold system is a wireless, stand-alone alarm and monitoring system that requires no external power source, that is quick to install, combining a range of intelligent technologies with a strength and robustness to withstand a rigorous attack. Designed in-house to meet the security and protection requirements specific to vacant properties it was developed in consultation and co-operation with customers.
