Roto makes an acquisition

Roto Group has just announced a major acquisition, placing it in a powerful position to take advantage of Brazil's rapidly growing development - especially in the construction sector.

Roto has purchased Fermax, a Brazilian hardware manufacturer that has been making and supplying products to its home market since 1974.

The company has 300 employees and is based in Columbo, a city in Parana province.

(The size of Brazil becomes evident when you look for it on the map: although it looks as if it's just a bit further down the coast from two well-known major cities, it turns out it's about a 5 hour drive from Sao Paulo or 9 hours from Rio De Janeiro.)

The Fermax brand name is well-established in Brazil and the Roto board say they plan to retain it. Importantly, this acquisition gives access to a distribution network that will be used to introduce new Roto hardware systems into Brazil as well as continuing the supply of Fermax branded products.

This news comes just months after the announcement of Roto's acquisition of Fasco, a Canadian hardware manufacturer. With the Group already having had a presence in the United States for many years, these recent moves mean Roto is set to further its fortunes in the Americas over the years ahead.
