Jail security out of date - denied as heritage site

A jail boss request for an urgent security upgrade at the front gate of Sydney's Long Bay jail to stop contraband being smuggled into prison has been rejected because the site is on the NSW Heritage List.

Australia's Sunday Telegraph can reveal that a request for an X-ray machine and walk-through metal detector was refused as it would disturb the historical aspects of the jail.
