The 56th annual ALOA Convention and Security Expo takes place from tomorrow, July 12th, to the 14th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. If you are visiting, there appears to be a wealth of products and innovations to look at. And of course the giveaways!  We report on one example below.

Locksmiths are routinely engaged in the unhappy business of repossessing property. Usually the worst that can be expected is some verbal abuse and possibly some degree of physical assault including being spat at. It goes with the territory. However we were all shocked to learn recently of the situation that developed in the beautiful town of Karlsruhe in Germany last week when four people were shot dead, including a last-minute substitute locksmith, who, it turns out, bravely tried to thwart the gunman. Our thoughts are with his family, who hopefully will be properly looked after in the years to come. More below.
