24 Facts About 24 Years Of Crimestoppers

Here are some facts about Crimestoppers which was started in 1988, 24 years ago...

1. Over 113,000 arrests and charges have been made since 1988.
2. Over 1.3 million actionable calls have been received since 1988.
3. More than £122 million of goods has been recovered since 1988.
4. More than £223 million of drugs have been seized since 1988.
5. Around 23 people are arrested every day as a result of information given to Crimestoppers
6. 29 cases are cleared up every day as a result of information given to Crimestoppers.
7. One person every seven days is charged with murder as a result of information given to Crimestoppers.
8. In the last three years the number of people arrested and charged as a result of Crimestoppers information has increased by 32 per cent.
9. In 1988, Crimestoppers received just under 5,000 calls with useful information - last year over 90,000 pieces of such information were received.
10. Since 1988, 964 people have been charged with murder/attempted murder with the help of Crimestoppers information.
11. The 'Most Wanted' section of the website established in 2005 has already resulted in 1,474 criminals being arrested.
12. 47 fugitives believed to be on the run in Spain have been arrested as a result of the 65 appeals launched in the crime campaign, Operation Captura.
13. During the UK riots in 2011, the number of online forms received by Crimestoppers increased by 300 per cent.
14. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) Most Wanted website was designed with the help of Crimestoppers. 75 per cent of convicted child sex offenders posted on the site have been found.
15. Crimestoppers' website www.crimestoppers-uk.org receives an average of 145,000 unique visitors every month.
16. There is a Crimestoppers 24/7 call bureau ensuring calls can be answered around the clock, 24 hours every day.
17. Around 40 per cent of the information the Crimestoppers call bureau receives is via the online giving information form on our website.
18. In 2010 Crimestoppers launched its new youth brand Fearless and website fearless.org .
19. Crimestoppers has a presence across the UK largely thanks to our 44 regional volunteer committees
20. Crimestoppers has over 500 people volunteering in their spare time to help fight crime in the UK.
21. The Charity's combined following on Facebook and Twitter increased by 255 per cent over the last fiscal year.
22. Crimestoppers has established the Integrity Line for private companies to pass on information about crime and wrong-doing in their organisation.
23. This year Crimestoppers launched a Just Text Giving service allowing anyone to give a donation by texting CSUK01 followed by their amount to 70070.
24. Last year, the Charity launched its first ever product; Crimestoppers Property Protector.
