Join the replacement revolution

* Yale-MPL-Group.jpgHome security specialist Yale has introduced a revolutionary new range of replacement multipoint locks, designed to help locksmiths take early advantage of this growing market.

The new Yale Doormaster range represents a genuine 'one visit, one repair' solution, thanks to a cleverly designed, compact range of replacement locks, replacement gearboxes and "overnight" locks.

All multipoint locks are based on the latest Yale High Security YS170 product platform and enable locksmiths to replace virtually all PVCu, composite and timber doors with just six multipoint locks

The series includes a Professional range, developed with locksmiths and professional door experts in mind. The range includes three croppable replacement locks, offering 'like for like' security for virtually all multipoint locks with 35mm and 45mm backsets on all door types.

To address follower failure, the Professional range also includes eight replacement gearboxes covering most of the market. Finally, for emergency installations where temporary door repairs are required, locksmiths can choose from seven "overnight" locks, which will quickly and economically secure 90% of doors.

The Yale Doormaster range also includes two versatile Universal replacement multipoint locks offering one hook, two roller and two mushroom options for all centre gearbox locks with 35mm and 45mm backsets in PVCu doors.

Easy and quick to install, the Universal locks are supplied, completely pre-assembled with an easy-fit one piece keep and all fixings.

For more advanced PVCu door security, an Adjustable replacement multipoint lock is available, which can be adapted to provide 'like for like' security for 90% of multiple gearbox locks with 35mm backsets.

The keeps on both the Universal and Adjustable replacement locks feature the patented Uni-packer system. This market leading new packer system will fit virtually all PVCu profiles and makes fitting keeps to the door frame extremely straight forward

Catherine Brock of Yale said: "Multipoint locks are fitted to 80% of all new external residential doors and those installed in the early generations of PVCu and composite doors are reaching the end of their lifecycle. Over the coming months and years, growing numbers of multipoint locks are expected to fail, in fact over 1 million are expected to require replacement by 2012.

"However, many householders have no experience of multipoint locks and won't know who to contact when their lock fails. Indeed, many consumers assume that the whole door needs to be replaced. The new Yale Doormaster range allows locksmiths to offer a ready solution to homeowners whilst saving them the hassle and expense of replacing the entire door.

"The range has also been devised to make it as easy as possible for locksmiths to effectively service the replacement multipoint lock market, by simplifying product selection and installation to provide a 'one call, one repair' solution. The whole range of multipoint locks, gearboxes and "overnight locks" - in fact everything the locksmith needs - has been compressed into just 22 product lines!"

Catherine continued: "Savvy locksmiths will also see that by 'saving the door', the Doormaster range creates opportunities to sell other replacement products such as cylinders and PVCu door furniture improving the security and appearance of the existing door."

Alongside the launch of Yale's Doormaster range is an exclusive opportunity to become a Yale Expert with access to full sales, marketing and technical support; product training, and 'approved installer' status from the world's leading security brand.

Locksmiths who choose to become a 'Yale Expert' will receive a company listing on a special Doormaster website for consumers and will also benefit from business referrals via a dedicated Yale Doormaster helpline.

Catherine concluded: "Doormaster together with the associated Yale Expert programme offers a powerful business proposition. They provide locksmiths with the opportunity to connect with a strong consumer brand and benefit from new business opportunities with replacement multipoint locks, which we strongly believe to be the future of the residential mechanical lock market."
