101 the non-emergency number
The new number will replace current non-emergency numbers which will be phased out.
101 provides a memorable number to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency response. Such as:
- if your car or van has been stolen
- if property has been damaged or vandalised
- if you suspect drug use or dealing
- to report a minor traffic collision
- to give the police information about crime or criminals in your local area
We are informed that a call to 101 will never cost more than 15p.
As always, dial 999 in an emergency - when life is in danger or crime is in progress.
