Comment:

Just months before London is due to host the 2012 Olympics, the news breaks that UK border security has been relaxed 'on orders from above to reduce queues' (how high we don't know as yet, but accusations have been levelled at the Home Office) raising concerns that criminals or militants may have been able to enter Britain at a time when security was meant to be a priority.

You couldn't make it up.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the Ministry of Defence is being asked to make 6000 troops available for security duties at the Games. Private security firm G4S has already earmarked more than 10,000 security guards for the task but the Government has revised upwards the figure needed.

Er, excuse us for pointing it out, but maybe the wide open 'front door' has something to do with it? Isn't it about time that this government displayed some joined up thinking as far as security is concerned?
