Security firm boss is jailed

A man who used a firm that provided security for T in the Park as a front to defraud taxpayers out of £1 million has been jailed for almost four years reports The Herald, Scotland.

David Stewardson, 55, was sentenced at Edinburgh Sheriff Court after he admitted he failed to declare £503,000 to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC). He also evaded paying £541,000 in income tax and national insurance.

More than £3m was put through Stewardson's company account over a four-year period but the firm, Westcoast Group Security, failed to pay any VAT or National Insurance contributions.
