MinuteKey eyes unlocking key duplication industry

Self-service kiosks have increasingly automated everyday tasks from buying stamps and cashing in coins to renting a movie and printing photos.
A Colorado-based company has set its sights on adding key duplication to that list and the firm recently received more than $10 million to enable it to do so.

MinuteKey Inc, founded in California in 2008, manufactures a self-service machine designed to copy standard home and office keys - but not car and high-security keys. The machine can complete the task in less than 60 seconds for $1.39 to $3.99 a pop - depending on whether a decorative design is selected.
