Samsung introduces two new low-cost models

* Samsung-SCV-2081_FS.jpgThe two latest additions to the Samsung vandal-resistant dome camera range offer low-cost options for a wide range of applications where cameras may be subjected to vandalism or tampering.

"Although the SCV-2081 and SCV-3081 will operate effectively at temperatures as low as -10 degrees C, and incorporate all the key features of other dome cameras in the Samsung vandal-resistant dome camera range, their price point is considerably lower than other models which are built to withstand much lower temperatures," says Peter Ainsworth, Senior European Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. "As a result the SCV-2081 and SCV-3081 make the perfect solution for those applications that are prone to attack or tampering, but do not suffer from extreme cold weather conditions".

The SCV-2081 and SCV-3081 are compact surface mounted dome cameras which are suitable for a wide range of internal and external applications such as offices, retail stores, car parks, schools, hospitals and unattended areas, such as stairwells. Both models, which are housed in a highly durable die-cast aluminium chassis, are IP66 rated and are capable of surviving sustained attack.

The SCV-2081 has a built-in 3.6X varifocal lens (2.8 ~10mm) and incorporates Samsung Techwin's highly acclaimed W-V DSP chipset, to deliver superb quality colour images at up to 600 TV lines colour resolution. A host of advanced features include third generation Samsung Super Noise Reduction (SSNRIII) technology and coaxial control compatibility which allows the fifteen language on-screen display menu to be accessed from the comfort of the control room via a compatible DVR, such as selected Samsung SRD series DVRs, without the need to install additional cabling. Other key features include Samsung Super Dynamic Range (SSDR), a progression of backlight compensation which automatically enhances detail in dark areas across the entire scene to reveal objects hidden in shadow.

The SCV-3081 has a built-in 3.9X varifocal lens (2.8 ~11mm) and incorporates the Samsung Techwin SV-V chipset which shares all the advanced features of the W-V chipset, but it also provides cameras with Wide Dynamic Range and Progressive Scan to allow them to deliver outstanding picture quality even in the most demanding of applications. A key feature of the SV-V chipset is an Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) capability, which is able to perform functions such as appear/disappear detection.

Another model in the Samsung compact vandal-resistant dome camera range, the SCV-2081R, was launched earlier this year. With its built-in IR LEDs, the SCV-2081R is able to capture clear images of objects up to 20 metres from the camera, even when the scene is in total darkness. The intensity of the IR LEDs is automatically adjusted according to the distance to the subject it is viewing in order to eliminate bright highlights and to ensure a perfectly balanced foreground and background image.

Available from Samsung distributors, the SCV-2081, SCV-2081R and SCV-3081 are offered with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd., including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.
