When it is a good thing to wrap your bike round a tree
Stolen bikes could be a thing of the past if a new idea for bike security takes off.
Young inventor Kevin Scott has come up with a 'bendy bike' that literally wraps around a tree or lamp post and locks to itself, instead of using the usual bike locks.
A traditional bike at each end, the centre is made of glass-filled nylon sections that snap back into a rigid frame and can be ridden as normal.
Kevin was awarded second prize in the UK-wide New Designers 2010 competition.
Meanwhile, locksmiths and bike shops can still expect to see sales of more traditional security solutions continue.
