ASSA ABLOY Access Control celebrates 10-year partnership with ACS

As it approaches the 10-year anniversary, ASSA ABLOY Access Control, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, is celebrating its partnership with Access Control Services Ltd. (ACS Ltd.), one of the UK's leading independent access control system manufacturers.

The two access control specialists continue to strengthen their partnership, which began almost ten years ago and saw the integration of ACS Ltd.'s xPLAN system and ASSA ABLOY Access Control's Aperio(r) wireless locking technology.

This combination creates a single point of administration and reporting for wired, wireless and wire-free systems, with additional support for other 'data-on-card' appliances, making the xPLAN system on of the most cost-effective and efficient access control solutions on the market.

Aperio(r) wireless locksets and cylinders are designed to serve as a combined card reader and locking device, as well as providing a real-time link to the online processor unit. In an xPLAN system, the xP1M Aperio(r) gateway controller provides distributed intelligence for a single wired door and up to 29 additional Aperio(r) battery-powered locking devices and associated hubs. This architecture enables maximum performance and resilience with reduced energy consumption and a reduction in the number of mains and LAN points.

Ray Phillips, Managing Director at ACS Ltd., said: "We first selected Aperio(r) because it was designed from the start as an OEM 'ingredient' product. Aperio(r) can be embedded natively at the microprocessor level into our field equipment.

"Over the years, Aperio(r) has allowed us to address the needs of clients who are looking for a way to extend the scope of their security systems without the high cost of networking and power supply provision.

"Being able to offer an offline solution has helped us win projects, as - without any physical modification to the units - the offline installation can be switched to online at a later time, simply by the addition of hubs and gateway controllers. More recently, we have been able to use the product to assist clients in meeting their aggressive energy reduction targets.

"As our lock solutions provider of choice, we look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with ASSA ABLOY Access Control."

David Hodgkiss, National Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Access Control, adds: "ACS Ltd. is one of our most trusted and engaged partners, and is also one of the most advanced in terms of integration. Aperio(r) technology continues to evolve for the needs of our partners and end-users, and we look forward to continued growth and future opportunities with ACS Ltd."
