Locksmiths' Exhibition 2011 a 'resounding success'

The Locksmiths' Exhibition held last weekend 5/6th March was a resounding success, says Mick Friend, show organiser and editor of Locks and Security Monthly.

Visitor figures are 1100 for the two days of the event (700 for the first day; 400 for the second). A large percentage of these visitors were first time 'eventers' as were some of the exhibitors. Record sales have been recorded, with one exhibitor achieving £30,000 in sales at the show.

The show will run again next year - around the weekend of the 3rd/4th March 2012.

"Not only was the show a great success, it was fun to do," says Mick Friend. "We have reserved our slot for the next two years and following a post-show meeting to assess exhibitors feedback we will sort the final dates and times.

"We would like to congratulate Martin Pink, Mark Aldridge, and Tom Gordon for being the first recipients of the 'Belcher Award' mostly for services to the industry, colleagues and their respective forums. Each has an amazing track record and are great guys as well.

"Congratulations also to Chris Belcher for his Lifetime Achievement award for his dedication to the trade over many years.

"Finally, Tradelocks were voted Supplier of the Year, and not without reason. They have been first to put up sponsorship of many, many meetings and without their support some things would not take place.

"The raffle and auction raised £4,800 and David Jennings from Tradelocks made the amount up to the £5,500 - the amount needed for the deserving recipient. We will report on the good work that has been done with these much-needed funds.

"Lastly, the show is a collaboration of exhibitors and visitors - without each other it will not work no matter how hard we as organisers work. So thank you to those that exhibited and to those who made the effort to attend."

There will be a full report about the show in the March issue of Locks and Security Monthly.
