Gill celebrates retirement after 46 years at Squire

Squire_ Gill-Lloyd_142.jpgDedicated factory worker Gill Lloyd has celebrated her retirement at security specialist Squire, after 46 years at the same company.

Gill joined Wolverhampton based Squire in 1970 at the age of 16, when the company was based in Willenhall.

It was the year when Ted Heath was prime minister, British rock bank Queen formed and footballer Alan Shearer was born.
Since working at Squire, Gill has seen great change at the company, which employed 350 people in the '70s.

Today, the company is at the forefront of international lock making with a heritage going back over 235 years.

Gill has known four generations of the Squire family, which now is headed by eighth generation CEO John Squire.
She celebrated with colleagues to mark the milestone and was presented with flowers and champagne.

"It's been great working at Squire, right from the start I loved working there," said Gill, who said she had no immediate plans, just to rest and enjoy spending time with the family.
Gill, who lives in New Invention, Willenhall, started out assembling locks and can openers at Squire.

CEO John Squire said: "We wish Gill the very best in her retirement. She always worked hard and we'll miss her bubbly, happy character and her fantastic sense of fun. Thank you, Gill."
