Allegion promotes the importance of fire door hardware

Specialist security manufacturer, Allegion, is providing those responsible for installing and maintaining fire door hardware with a new tool - a downloadable Fire Door Hardware Checklist.

Allegion has created the easy-to-use checklist to promote higher standards of fire door inspection and maintenance. By following each simple step, trade professionals can be confident that all essential elements, such as door signage, are in place.

At the same time, the list will assist in avoiding common issues, like unsuitable hinges that result in gaps around the frame and ineffective ironmongery that hinders escape. To provide additional support, Allegion customers can register online to receive a free fire door gap tester.

To further promote the importance of fire door safety, Allegion will be making a donation to the Children's Burns Trust (CBT) during Fire Door Safety Week, 14th-20th September. The CBT is a national charity that provides rehabilitation support for burned and scald injured children and their families.

Simon Osborne, sales leader UK and Ireland at Allegion, commented: "As an industry, we must continue to promote compliant installation and maintenance of fire doors, as well as the vital role of certified and compatible ironmongery. We're reaching out to trade professionals with our Fire Door Hardware Checklist to get them thinking about how doors, closers, hinges and ironmongery work in unison to offer a complete and reliable solution. Our Briton range features certified and compatible products, making it simple to choose the best hardware for the job, ensuring every fire door functions as effectively as possible."

The Allegion Fire Door Hardware Checklist is available to download at www.allegion.co.uk
