When it is a good thing to wrap your bike round a tree

* Bendy_bike.jpg
Stolen bikes could be a thing of the past if a new idea for bike security takes off.

Young inventor Kevin Scott has come up with a 'bendy bike' that literally wraps around a tree or lamp post and locks to itself, instead of using the usual bike locks.

A traditional bike at each end, the centre is made of glass-filled nylon sections that snap back into a rigid frame and can be ridden as normal.

Kevin was awarded second prize in the UK-wide New Designers 2010 competition.

Meanwhile, locksmiths and bike shops can still expect to see sales of more traditional security solutions continue.

Glued locks are a sticky predicament

* Glued2.jpgFurious business owners found themselves in a sticky situation when vandals poured industrial strength glue through their door locks, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.

One man had to use a welding torch to get into his workplace when he discovered the damage.

In the most recent incident a CCTV camera filmed two yobs in the act at Option 4 car audio firm on Springfield Street in Plungington, Preston.

When owner Steve Roberts turned up for work on Thursday he found a rude slogan spray painted on his shutters - and couldn't get into his unit.

Steve said: "I have run my firm for 22 years and never had anything like this happen.

I couldn't get in because there was a strong resin glue, which contained iron filings, poured into the lock. Whoever did this intended to do a proper job. It cost me £100 to get new locks."

Here's *!*! in your eye!

A dirty protest pensioner remains defiant after tipping human excrement on the heads of a locksmith and bailiff.

The unfortunate pair arrived at the home of Halifax resident John Skelton to evict him following non-payment of council tax. The old boy had been saving his own waste for a few days in anticipation of such a visit and opened a window when they knocked on the door.

The unlucky locksmith looked up, took the mess full in the face and, not surprisingly, was promptly sick.

Mr Skelton was arrested and charged with assault, but remains unapologetic for both the non-payment and the dirty protest, blaming the council's neglect for his late wife's early demise.
